We went to Sawyers Valley Primary School today. We woke up at 6am, had breakfast and left for the school at 8am.
After an hour's journey, we reached the school and attended their assembly programme. We were shocked to see that the school has only 20 classes in all! The school hall was about 5 times smaller than our school hall. However, the pupils were very tall. The principal of the school introduced us to the pupils. The vice principal mentioned that it was their 1st assembly for the term. Then, she gave out many certificates to pupils who did well in their subjects or showed improvement in their work / conduct.
After assembly, we had PE lesson. We played games such as Snowball tag and we learnt the basic moves of Australian's football. Pupils from Sawyers Valley were grouped with us and they taught us how to play. It was not easy to throw the ball. After throwing 5 footballs, our hands were painful. Kicking the balls was easier. We headed to recess after PE lesson.
After recess, we gathered in a classroom. We shared about our school experience and about Singapore. After 2 presentations by Clayten, Ooi Wai and Amirah, our Australian's friends asked us many questions about Singapore and our school. They were very interested to know more. Likewise, we also had many questions for them. In the process, we learnt about the similarities and differences between our schools. We really envy the fact that they do not have examinations.
See last photo : we beat them 14 to 1. Number of students wearing glasses!
