Perth Hills Centre Part 1 (by Yih Reng)

The trip to Perth Hills Centre was fun and exciting. The air in the morning was chilly. We started by going into the forest, where we overturn rocks and sifted through soil to find invertebrates (animals without backbones). We were going to catch them and place them under a magnifying glass. We managed to catch invertebrates such as scorpions, millipedes, cockroaches, ants and spiders. We also set up a honey trap for ants but we did not manage to catch any ants. Our groups greatest find was a giant scorpion! We classified the invertebrates into 6 groups: predators, preys, recyclers, pollinators, aerators and gardeners. I was amazed to find out that 98% of the animal kingdom is made up of invertebrates. We belong to the 2%.
