Perth Video

Would like to thank Tricia and her dad for creating a lovely video for all of us! Enjoy the video by clicking on the link

Departure from Perth (by Gladys)

After a satisfying trip in Perth, we reached the airport at around 2 in the afternoon on Tuesday, 29 May. All of us were reluctant to leave Perth and wished to stay longer. Perth was just such a wonderful place! We all had to check in our luggages and our passports checked before being scanned by some security officers. The airport in Perth was not as big as the airport in Singapore but it had stores too. Being allowed to roam freely, most pupils in our group scattered to find souvenirs, promising to meet back at that area at 3.15pm. Everyone was punctual and the whole group was present at the entrance to the plane at 3.30pm. We had to wait for about half an hour before proceeding to board the plane 10 minutes before flight. The flight back to Singapore took at least 5 hours and we reached the Singapore airport at 9.20pm on the same day.

Campfire (By Mrs Chan)

On the final night, Mr David started a campfire for our students and we all gathered around the campfire. It was a chilly evening so the warmth from the fire was so inviting. As we gazed at the stars and held out our hands towards the warmth, we also reflected on the valuable things we have learnt over the five days in Perth.

Many students expressed that they learnt to work better with their peers and persevere despite tiredness. Many hands went up when asked if they felt more appreciative of their parents. We (the teachers) affirmed all students that they have each grown and matured in many ways. We encouraged all students to reflect upon their experiences in Perth and be a good influence to their peers in Singapore.

Mrs Wee, our Vice-Principal, presented a prize to Lim Yu Xi for being the ‘Best Female Camper’. She had persevered with all activities despite suffering an eye infection. Ng Chun Rong was nominated as the ‘Best Male Camper’ for being very respectful to all the guides throughout the trip and for being very engaged for every activity. Last but not least, Reagan Tang was nominated as the ‘Most Helpful and Enthusiastic Camper’. He was always looking out for his friends and his enthusiasm was infectious! We want to congratulate these students!

Our Accommodation(by Suriya)

From Day 1 to Day 3, we stayed in Comfort Hotel in the city. It was a very comfortable hotel. There was a television in each room and everything that you need to stay comfortably. Breakfast in the morning was sumptuous too! The hotel even gave us a morning call each day at 6am as requested by our teachers. After the day’s activities and after a debrief session with our teachers, we usually had some time to play before sleeping so we would have small parties and we made a bit of noise. However, we usually slept by 10.30pm for most nights so there was sufficient sleep.

From Day 4 to Day 6, we stayed in Orchard Glory Farm Resort, which was about a 2-3 hours drive from the city. The Farm Resort has about 20 chalets on a sprawling piece of land. The resort is owned by a Singaporean couple who has 4 children. We were served with home-cooked food cooked by Ms Michelle (the owner) for every meal and the food was delicious! Mr David, the owner, organised team-building games for us and set up a camp fire for us on our last night. It was truly an unforgettable stay!

Team-building games (by Oo Wai)

Today, after lunch, we did team-building games. We had to finish a couple of tasks to win the grand prize. Mr David, told us that we can actually copy other group’s ideas for completing the tasks.

The first task: Blow balloons and stack them up until they reached the same level as a stack of chairs. Halfway through creating our balloon structures, Mr David told us that we could do a group cheer to remove 3 chairs to lower the height of the chairs and finish our task faster. My group (group 2) did a cheer and 3 chairs were removed. However, group 1 completed their task faster than us. We continued working on our structure and finally completed it a few minutes later.

The second task: Find 10 different types of leaves, 5 different types of fruits and count the number of steps near the wine cellar. Although we finished the first task later, we caught up quickly and beat group 2 into completing task 2 faster. Yay!

The third task: Take 13 pictures of various places and things shown in a piece of paper. They included plants, sign boards and animals found around the farm. My group actually wandered to another farm and we had to quickly return to Mr David’s farm. After a lot of running and hard work, group 1 finally completed the task and won. They did not give up! Well done, group 1!

Through these games, we learnt that we must have patience, cooperation and teamwork in order to complete the tasks.

No skyping tonight

Dear Parents,

We are not Skyping tonight since the kids are busying packing and we're going back to Singapore tomorrow.

Orchard Glory Farm - 2 (by Yu Xi)

Do you know what happens in a farm?

At the Orchard Glory Farm, we went around the farm to do some fun activities. A farmer, Mr Keith, brought us around the farm. First, we fed two ponies and a horse. The two Shetland ponies were much smaller than the horse. We fed them chunks of carrots.

Next, we fed the Alpacas. At first, I thought they were Llamas! They ate the seeds of some plants and some oats. One or two of them even had the cheek to sneeze on one of our teachers and a classmate! It was quite unpleasant for them. After a few minutes, a truck pulled up next to us. There were three sheep and two dogs in the truck.. We got to witness the sheep shearing up close.

Then, Mr Keith brought us to a winery and explained to us the process of making wine. All of us even had the opportunity to complete the last stage – bottling the wine and labelling it. We filled the bottle up, put the cork in, placed the label on the bottle and took a group photo with the wine bottle. It was such a fun experience. Although we were not allowed to taste the wine, I really wished that we could each take a bottle of wine home!

Lastly, we went to a field full of orange trees. Mr Keith allowed us to pick two oranges each. Then, he brought us to a place where they waxed and sorted the oranges to prepare them for sale. The oranges were put into a long machine with a few conveyor belts. The oranges were cleaned and then waxed. A small sticker was then put on each orange and a conveyor belt would transport the oranges to the final destination. Each orange on the conveyor belt would be sorted based on its size. The smaller oranges would pass through the gap first and drop into the first few slots while the bigger oranges would travel further and pass through a larger gap.

Finally, Keith allowed us to pick mandarin oranges from another part of the farm and we could eat them on the spot. I really feel glad that I am on this trip and I hope to have more of such experiences in the near future.

Orchard Glory Farm (by Yu Xi)

We are now staying at Orchard Glory Farm. Instead of a hotel room which can only hold 3 people, the chalet here can hold 6 people. I feel really excited staying at a chalet with my friends. I looked forward to a fun-filled day at the farm tomorrow.
